It is a fact: Ice-skating is the Dutch winter sport...in the last 10 days I have the feeling everyone got on the ice for skating:-) So this weekend I have decided to make this icy sport in an even more typical Dutch landscape, surrounded by "windmolen"(windmills)...Kinderdijk is very cute Dutch village with a lot of beautful, old windmills around and one could actually skate on canals having those on each side (right and left), not bad...Enjoy the colours of the sunset and the sunshine we had yesterday on ice:-)

Jana, this is fantastic and very strange because I was thinking about this place early in the morning.
Greetings,
Filip
Fabulous...the sky seems to be endless...
i see your happy faces, wonderful and beautiful scenery, so happy for you got your wish. happy Valentine's Jana.
What gorgeous skies! And everyone still looks happy in the chilly weather.
Those windmills are beautiful.
As beautiful as you.
Especially in a Valentines Day.
How wonderful to be diving in tropical waters one week and skating by windmills the next! Your photos are magical. I loved reading Hans Brinker when I was a child and dreamed of skating on the canals.

@Filip: great mind think alike, no?:-)
@AVC: yep, people were extremely happy+smily to be able to skate outdoor! the ice-skating is the favourite winter sport here...
@Barb: I was a bit behind with my reporting from Reunion island, so I had some 3-4 weeks to adjust to these freezing temperatures:-)

Hello Jana,
Fun that you were here!!
Your shots are amazing. Wonderful with the sunset colors. Picture 2 is great with the silhouettes of the mill. And nice to see you with your skates on.
You could just come along for a hot cup of coffee, Ridderkerk is very close there,...!!
Greetings, Marco

Netherlands is such a beautiful country. All the photos are breathtaking and the scenes before the sunset are so magical and dramatic. Your smile makes me feel happy.
In Japan, travel to Holland is very popular especially in spring with all the blooms including Keukenhof.
