Similan Islands from underwater: part 2, underwater temple and more

At the end of 2012 I would love to take you one more time underwater between colours and funny/ cute/ weird looking creatures...On one of our dives around Similan islands we found this stone underwater temple at around 10 meters. Some other fantastic finds were the big white nudibranch, the sea urchin known as "jewel urchin" and the crab recycling rests of other inhabitant as his home....
Wishing you all a good end of the old year and a very good start in the new one!

We have never been to the Similan Islands Jana but heard it was good for diving and snorkeling. Would you recommend it to us?

Happy New Year and see you soon.

Greetings,
Filip

What a great great adventure! We haven't really got a chance to taking any underwater pictures, yours are awesome! Jana, if you don't mind us asking for your email address please, we would like to ask you some travel advise on Amsterdam.

@Filip: indeed the uw world is very colourful+impressive, I am not sure how much u see while snorkeling, diving might be better as you get closer; as mentioned in my previous post the palce has suffered some severe coral bleaching but the recovery has started;

The interesting things you find beneath the ocean! Is that a log or something with horns?

Thanks, Jana, for taking us to the underwater world where I’ll never go in person. Have a super happy, healthy year ahead filled with pleasant surprises and exciting adventures.

@Karen: it is a nudibranch (translated from Latin the name means "naked gills"), this creature is like a homeless snail with beautiful colours and the 2 horns you see are its oral tentacles on the head:-)

@Yoko: its my pleasure to show u around;

I absolutely love that shot of the underwater temple! Did you bring your own dive gears all the way to Thailand or did you rent them?

Can't wait to see more pics! :)

we usually have our fins+masks+wetsuits with us (plus of course camera+uw housing) and rent the rest, its less hassle for transporting;
