Pumpkin fever or lost inbetween pumkins: At Water market of Montreal...

Where do I start?!:-)) I know/ermember pumpkin as long as I remember myself. I used to eat it in cakes (with sugar+walnuts: the way we have it in Bulgaria in winter) or simply baked in oven with honey on the top. Since I live in Western Europe I have discovered one uses it as a veggie. So for few years now I am absolutely hooked to pumpkin soups or pumpkin-gratins...Imagine my joy when we went to At Water market in Montreal and we could literally dive in huge amounts of different kinds of pumpkins. Next to orange and yellow, I saw white, green, multi-colours ones. Most of these sorts I have never seen in my life...The way they were presented and on sale, as well the artistic ones just made me smile, so today you may find a selection of these beauties! Of course some already pre-painted pumpkins were there to remind of the coming Halloween too:-)

I hope they will use the inside of the pumkin also to eat instead of only playing Haloween.

Greetings,

Wow Jana, this definitely looks like pumpkin heaven! Some of the unusual looking pumpkins are fabulous to eat. last year, I bought a pumpkin that we named peter, and we made all sorts of goodies from him. Lots of fun!

Jana,

I am so amazed at all the pumpkins and gourds available. There are so many different colors. I love the white pumpkins better than the orange ones for decorating.

Most kids in the US really look forward to carving out pumpkins for Halloween. I am not a big fan of Halloween but enjoy watching the children dressed in costume knocking on your door for treats. Some of the costumes are so clever!

My favorite pumpkin food is pumpkin pie! We eat it as a dessert every Thanksgiving.

So many different shapes and colours! Pumpkin is mostly used as a vegetable in Australia too, but sometimes for sweet pies, cakes and scones too.

I don't think I have seen so many variety of pumpkins in one place! Big, small, orange, green, red, ...etc. What fun to look at all the decorated ones! Your pumpkin cake sounds wonderful. We have pumpkin pies here I look forward to this time of year to eat it.

Not so long ago, there is an american tv drama called "Gilmore Girls" [ not sure if you have seen it before ]. And every year around October they must have 1 episode where they decorate the whole town with pumpkin. We really wanted to visit any town decorate like those but we couldn't find it, you are very lucky to visit this place and thanks for sharing with us. By the way, I'm studying in electrical and electronics engineering, please pray for me! :D

I am overwhelmed by all the pumpkins! And just in time for Halloween ;)

So, did you design one of your own? :)

Oooh, pumpkin soup! My stomach grumbles at the thought haha. You must have a very festive window shelve right now what with all those seven kinds of pumpkins!

Jana, dit is weer een super serie !!!!

(floating market: Jana, ik heb wel iets gekocht maar niet van een boot, dat was te moeilijk en te weinig tijd)

@Koryn: I am not used to carve pumpkins in Bulgaria and now in Holland...but I love to cook them (in soups, gratins, cakes)...indeed my table (there was not enough space on the window shelve) is very colourfully/autumly decorated!
@papillon: wie waren Ende Sep-Anfang Oktober für eine lange Woche...
@fiziskandarz: I am crossing my fingers for you...in germany they have a pumpkin festival every year in the garden of the castle Ludwigsburg; check their homepage;
