Flower-Power: Bloemencorso 2014, colours, sun and wind!

This year the famous flower parade was a bit later than usual, on the first weekend of May. As often before we went to Noordwijkerhout on Friday eve and enjoyed the sea of flowers, colours+perfumes! Dive in, can you smell them ? :-)

"Bon Appetit" with the flower parade Bloemencorso 2013!

 

Even if all flowers are delayed here in the Netherlands with 2-3 weeks this spring due to the cold and longw inter the famous and lovely-smelling flower parade started last night in Noordwijkerhout. The topic this year was "Bon appetit" and as every year I was again impressed how created the artists are...enjoy my pictures, they made me smile even if I was freezing while taking them:-)))

 

On the picture below you can see very well that the "banana" is made from daffodils and the monkey from purple hyacinths.

 

Bloemencorso 2012, the fantastic flower-parade in Haarlem...

 

For the 65th time the most colourful flower-power event, the Bloemencorso, took place in the Bollenstreek, the flower-bulb-area between Leiden and Amsterdam...This one-weekend-lasting display of fresh flowers respresenting different subjects is always an impressive and charming show to visit and photograph. Despite the chilly and windy weather, the sky was fantastically blue and all participants were parked in the centre of the cute and cozy Dutch town Haarlem the whole last Sunday!

 

The topic this year was communication! the winner was a platform representing colourful parrots:-) My personal favourite was a guy reading newspaper, looking very lazy with one foot in the air...I also loved the mix of creative flower-presentations with beautiful Dutch architecture...and of course this awesome blue sky and warm sunshine!

Flower power during Bloemencorso 2010 in Haarlem

Last weekend was again THIS special time of the year: the weekend of the flower parade Bloemencorso. Starting Saturday morning from Noordwijkerhout and arriving in the evening in the 40-km-far away city of Haarlem. This year the topic of the parade was "travelling through Europe".

One could see the French Moulin Rouge, play Spanish guitar, see the Portuguese cocks...and meet the Swedish viking and sail away on his ship:-)

Dutch Flowerparade/Bloemencorso of Bollenstreek 2009

It was again the last weekend of April and it was again time.... for the most colourful and most fragnant flower parade, the Bloemencorso of Bollenstreek (between Noordwijkerhout and Haarlem, Bollenstreek=the flower bulb area of the Netherlands)! The topic this year was "Famous books" and one could meet different heroes: like Asterix and Obelix, the last Mohican, knights and wizards and Moby Dick, the huge pink whale with his friends the pinguins...

The fragnance of hyacinths was just everywhere, may be because next to the start point of the parade in Noordwijkerhout there were some flower fields, still in blossom...The Bloemencorso is definitely my favourite of all flower events here! I was very happy to show it to our special visit from Joensuu, Finland: Henna, Lauri and Niilo:-)
